Library Postcard from the late 1950’s or early 1960’s

Christopher S. from Raleigh, North Carolina contacted us recently via our Facebook page to show us a picture of an old postcard he found. It happened to be an unused Hold Notification postcard from Welwood Murray Memorial Library and Librarian, Dorothy Bear. Based on the $.03 pre-printed stamp, I estimate that the postcard comes from sometime between August 1, 1958 and January 7, 1963, the time span of the $.03 postcard rate. The postcard is a fun piece of Welwood Murray Memorial Library history. Thank you Christopher for this unique donation!

Do you have any old photos, post cards, or bookmarks from our Library that you’d like to share or donate? Do you have photos or other old things from the Palm Springs Public Library? We would be interested in scanning your items for our digital collection (you’ll hear more about our digital collection in the coming months.)  Feel free to stay up-to-date on construction at Welwood Murray Memorial Library HERE.
In the meantime, enjoy the front and back images of this interesting piece of library history.
