The celebration of the summer reading theme PAWS to READ continues with the Palm Springs Public Library partnering with the Palm Springs Animal Shelter and the Palm Springs Public Arts Commission to present a special art display in the Library.
The photographs and paintings on display were created by local artists, photographers and volunteers of the Palm Springs Animal Shelter. The animal subjects were either past shelter residents who have found their forever homes or are animals currently at the shelter that are available for adoption.
The unique pastel, abstract paintings were “painted” by actual cats and dogs at the shelter. Paint was applied to the paper canvases and then clear plastic sheeting covered the paper and the animals walked on the canvas to paint their unique art.
This special exhibit is available to view in the Library during regular Library hours and will be on display through the end of July. The Library is also conducting a pet supplies drive for the Palm Springs Animal Shelter during the month of June. Everyone is encouraged to bring in items to donate; a wish list of needed items can be found on the Library’s web site or posted in the Library.
With over 100,000 individual items, the Palm Springs Public Library offers a varied and comprehensive collection to the community. The Library is located at 300 S. Sunrise Way, on the corner of Sunrise Way and Baristo Road. For more information call 760-322-READ or log on to www.palmspringslibrary.org.
