Sam Harris to perform at Library

If you’re my age, or older, you might have watched “Star Search” in the 1980s with Ed McMahon as the host and young talent trying their hardest to get 4 stars, beat the challenger, and move on to perform on the next show. This was my generation’s American Idol. According to Wikipedia (yes, I’m citing Wikipedia), notable performers were Adam Sandler, Drew Carey, Sawyer Brown, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, and Tiffany. One of the most notable performers was Sam Harris, 13-week male vocalist winner and champion in the first season. Sam’s signature song was “Over the Rainbow.” I remember him dressed in tails and Converse sneakers and winning our hearts with his fabulous voice. When you didn’t think his voice could swell any more, it did and we swooned. If you would like to watch a 14-show compilation video of his performances, click HERE.

Sam went on to become a Tony award winning Broadway performer, actor, producer, director, and many things in-between.  Read his full biography HERE.

If you love the Library, love Sam Harris or just love a good performance, you will enjoy the program we have to offer you on Sunday, March 16, 2014. Sam Harris will read from his new book, “Ham: Slices of Life” and will sing a few songs. Each attendee will receive a copy of Sam’s book and will be able to have it autographed by Sam.
