Second grader Alexandra Grauel was the lucky Youth participant that won the Hewlett-Packard (HP) Desktop Computer at the Palm Springs Public Library’s Summer Reading Fun Fest (SRFF) finale program on Saturday, July 31st.
Her completed program entry was drawn by the guest performer, the Amazing Dana, on Saturday afternoon at the finale celebration. Unfortunately Alexandra was not there in person to receive her computer; winners did not have to be present to win, they just had to finish their program by the due date to be eligible for the drawing. Alexandra and her family came into the Library today to claim her reward, a new HP Desktop computer, for all her hard work.
Prizes were also awarded to three lucky adult participants, again randomly selected by our guest performer the Amazing Dana. Pinky Babasa of Palm Springs, won a PUR Water Filtration Family-size pitcher and Julia Hernandez, also of Palm Springs won a Brita Water filtration pitcher courtesy of the Palm Springs Sustainability Commission. Shara Cabreros of Palm Springs won the grand prize, a Smart Irrigation Controller courtesy of the Desert Water Agency.
With is year’s theme celebrating water and its importance, the Desert Water Agency agreed to sponsor the SRFF grand prizes, providing the HP laptop and the HP desktop computers and the Smart Irrigation Controller. “We are very proud to have contributed to the summer reading program this year through our donation. It is a great program in Palm Springs that not only encourages reading, but this year also water conservation. Thank you to the library for making this program possible.” said James Cioffi, Director and Chair of the Conservation Committee.
The Summer Reading Fun Fest began on June 5th and ended on July 31st with over 500 youth, teens and adults participating. The grand prize for the Tween/Teen participants was awarded on Wed., July 28th and the HP Laptop computer was won by sixth grader Lexie G, of Palm Springs.
