The Palm Springs Public Library’s 2010 Summer Reading Fun Fest (SRFF) began on June 5th and continues through July 31st. This year’s theme is ‘Make A Splash—READ’, which highlights water in all of this year’s programs. Water is essential to life and through programming, reading lists and fun and games we explore all aspects of water and its importance.
To promote the importance of water, the Desert Water Agency has partnered with the Library to provide grand prizes for the finale of the Summer Reading Fun Fest. Through this generous donation, the Library will be giving away one Hewlett-Packard (HP) desktop computer system, one HP laptop computer and one Smart Irrigation Controller.
One lucky Tween or Teen, in grades 6th—12th, who complete their program, will be entered into the drawing for the HP Laptop Computer that will be given away at their gaming and finale program on Wed. July 28th at 2:00 p.m.
Children, toddler age through the 5th grade, that complete their program, will be entered into a drawing that will award the HP Desktop Computer System. And all adults who sign-up and completed their program will be entered into a drawing for a Smart Irrigation Controller, which uses daily local weather data along with historical ET data to adjust runtimes and customize watering times every day. There will also be some water filtration items courtesy of the Palm Springs Office of Sustainability. All these prizes will be given away at the at the finale program, scheduled for Saturday, July 31st at 2:00 p.m.
Program completion is mandatory to be entered to win; only one entry per person, you do not need to be present to win.
“We are thrilled, and so honored, to be receiving this generous support and donation from the Desert Water Agency to our community, said Barbara Roberts, Director of Library Services. “The Summer Reading Fun Fest is a great way for families to read together and ensure kids continue learning and growing their reading skills through the summer, and with a chance to win a computer, that’s just icing on the cake!” There are programs for all ages, from toddler to adult, so everyone can sign-up (in-person or online) and participate!
