The Palm Springs Public Library is happy to present another opportunity for job seekers to improve their resume writing skills to create an effective and attention grabbing resume. On Wednesday, April 14th at 1:00 P.M., the Library will present a Resume Skills webinar courtesy of Tutor.com.
This long-distance learning opportunity, hosted at the Library, will be taught by instructor Barbara Safani, the author of “Happy About My Resume: 50 Tips for Building a Better Document to Secure a Brighter Future.” She will teach attendees the following skills:
- How to write a powerful profile and skills summary that shows how valuable your experience is to hiring managers.
- How to transform a list of job tasks into powerful success stories.
- How to leverage education and internships to prove you have “the right stuff” to do the job.
- How to use resume design templates to help you stand out from the crowd.
Following this hour-long workshop, a Librarian will demonstrate Career Transitions, a new addition to the Library’s online tools. Career Transitions is a complete, self-paced application that walks job-seekers through the entire process from assessing strengths and interests, to exploring new opportunities, to ultimately improving the chances of landing a job. This tool, which includes resume and reference wizard templates as well as job searching by industry or location, is one of several that the Library offers online in the Database/Research section on the web site at http://www.palmsprtinglibrary.org
The workshop is FREE and open to the public, but seating is limited. The workshop will be presented in The Learning Center at the Library.
