In a slight departure from previous year’s programs, the Palm Springs Public Library will present “Celebrate the Movies” an evening to discuss the movie award history and process, enjoy some sweet treats and watch a film. On Thursday, February 25th, 2010 beginning at 7:00 p.m. join the Library at the Camelot Theater, tickets are $10 each and are available in advance at the Library. Seating is limited and last year’s event sold out early.
This year’s special guest speaker will be Darryl Macdonald, Executive Director of the Palm Springs International Film Festival. He will help us understand the movie award nomination process and share his insight regarding the film we will be viewing.
Attendees will enjoy a dessert buffet provided by Chef Hector Salvatierra of the Camelot Café and view the full-length feature film “The Last Station” featuring two Oscar nominated performances; Helen Mirren, who is nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress and Christopher Plummer who is nominated for Best Supporting Actor.
This will be an exclusive evening for attendees to celebrate the movies, the performances and learn some behind-the-scenes insight from our special guest speaker.
