Palm Springs Public Library Downloadable Audiobooks now compatible with iPod®.

In December 2008 the Palm Springs Public Library began offering FREE downloadable audiobooks to Palm Springs Library card holders as part of its vast and varied collection. To expand the accessibility of this downloadable collection the Library is happy to announce that with a simple upgrade to the latest version of OverDrive Media Console 3.2, nearly all audiobooks from the Library’s downloadable audiobook collection can now be transferred to the iPod®, iPhone™, iPod touch®, and iPod nano®, as well as the Zune® and thousands of other MP3 players, from a Windows® computer.

Users of the Palm Springs Public Library downloadable audiobook collection can continue to access our most downloaded book “Internet Riches” by Scott Fox, plus enjoy many best-selling titles like “Twilight” and “New Moon” by Stephenie Meyer, “The Associate” by John Grisham, and even the highly anticipated “Lost Symbol” by Dan Brown on their iPod®!

To browse the collection of popular audiobooks for your iPod® or MP3 player, visit: and click on the ‘Download AudioBooks’ icon located on the home page. You will be able to view hundreds of titles that you can check out with your library card, and then download to enjoy titles on your computer, MP3 player (including Apple® devices), and burn many titles to CD. At the end of the lending period, titles will automatically expire and return to the collection. There are no late fees!

“Having more titles available to users of iPod devices gives more access to more people,” said Barbara Roberts, Director of Library Services, “this upgrade was highly anticipated.”

The growing collection of Mac®-friendly, iPod-compatible OverDrive MP3 Audiobooks will still be available for patrons with Apple computers.

This free and easy to use service is provided by the Palm Springs Public Library and powered by OverDrive, Inc. To start downloading today, visit and click on the ‘Download AudioBooks’ icon located on the home page.
