As part of our Summer Reading Fun Fest (SRFF) program the Palm Springs Public Library called for amateur photographers of all ages to enter our Be Creative SRFF Photography Contest. The Library received a total of 27 entries which were then separated into the three appropriate submission categories, Youth (K—5th grade), Teen (6th—12th grade) and Adult (18 +).
The theme of the contest was “This Is My Palm Springs” and all photo entries depicted this theme as interpreted by the photographer with some fun and amazing results! Our esteemed panel of judges included Tom Brewster, a local photographer and author of the book “Portrait of Palm Springs” showcasing his photographs from the surrounding area. Jennifer Henning, the Public Arts Public Arts & Special Projects Coordinator for the Community & Economic Development department of the City of Palm Springs and Louisa Castrodale, artist and Visual and Performing Arts Specialist for the Palm Springs Unified School District.
The judges awarded First, Second and Third place prizes in each category. Each of the First prize winners will receive a gift card for $100, Second prize winners will receive a gift card for $75 each and each of the Third prize winners will receive a gift card for $50 on Saturday, August 1st, at the Summer Reading Fun Fest finale program which begins at 2:00 p.m.
